The past year has seen Downtown Raleigh's specialty shops and beverage retail options expand very quickly. Downtown gained two new beer shops in the past year, Tasty Beverage Company in the Depot Building and Tyler's Bottle Shop in Seaboard Station. As well, Raleigh Wine Shop added another option on Glenwood South to buy some brews and a bottle of wine.

This weekend, The Raleigh Wine Shop will celebrate its first year in business this weekend with wine tastings, food samplings, specials on wine by the glass and bottle and deep discounts on six, twelve and more bottle purchases. The celebrating begins this Friday May 18th and concludes on Sunday May 20th with the Boxcarr Farms food truck in their parking lot serving Vinoburgers from the popular cookbook written by Raleigh Wine co-owner Jeff Bramwell. A full schedule of events is over at The Raleigh Wine Shop website.

As a regular reader and downtown resident I always find it surprising that New Raleigh has never mentioned this business, but The Wine Feed on Glenwood Ave is having its 1-year anniversary this coming weekend as well.

    I found their webpage: http://thewinefeed.com/anniversary.php

I remember Raleigh Wine Shop as it was opening…I remember thinking, “a cool place on Glenwood”.  A couple more have been added as well…but love the vibe of the wine shop!  And wine by the glass…cheap! I’m sorry…ahem…inexpensive!

Hee.  The Wine Feed.  I went in there.  12 “flavors” of wine.    How does that compete with Raleigh Wine Shop?  But sure, drop a name.

Here’s to hoping for their continued success.  Great shop, nice folks, and the ability to taste wine @ the dispensers in the back at your own pace is awesome.  Solid addition to the Glenwood South retail scene.

Best of luck to the Raleigh Wine Shop for continued success. It’s a great store and a great addition to the downtown area. Congrats on your anniversary guys.
