In the new climate that Hollywood makes movies in, there are very few true movie stars left. Your typical action bonanza these days seems more likely to casting a complete unknown in the starring role instead of putting a true “name” actor above the title on the poster. Well, make way for Safe House.
Denzel Washington, in my opinion, is one of maybe five superstars left that is still dependable enough to buy in a role, sight unseen. In Safe House, he has what is potentially his meatiest role since his Oscar winning turn in Training Day. Here he stars as Tobin Frost, a CIA operative who went renegade years ago and has been hunted ever since. Now, ten years later, he shows up at the South African safe house manned by rookie Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds). Moments later the location is attacked by mercenaries, there to take out Frost and anyone that gets in their way. Soon the two are on the run together, looking for clues into who put a hit out on them.
Universal Pictures is teaming with New Raleigh to give some of our lucky readers a chance at catching this action-thriller before any of their friends or family. A special advanced screening is being held February 7th at 7:00pm, and here is all you have to do to enter here.
