After successfully filming the first Hunger Games film in the mountains of North Carolina, Lionsgate studio has decided to film some of the urban scenes for the next two Hunger Games sequels in Downtown Raleigh.

This means that the stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson Woody Harrelson and Liam Hemsworth will be walking Hargett, Fayetteville and Wlimington Streets a lot in the next few years.

I can see a Dystopian version of the Raleigh skyline already with a shattered Shimmer Wall and a warehouse district crawling with Peacekeepers.

    I refuse to believe this is real. It would be all over the news. Besides, it doesn’t make sense for it to be in downtown Raleigh. (I don’t want to get my hopes up and have it be April Fools, because I’d be crushed.) :) THG FOREVER.

    Why doesn’t it make sense? Scenes were filmed in Charlotte and Shelby and DuPont…the next 2 books take place primarily in other Districts AND the next “games” involves beach-like scenery.

    Don’t know if above story is true or not, but NC has sometimes tied with Florida as a movie location. I was an extra in a movie myself once. Lots of movies and TV shows have been shot in Wilmington, where there are studios. There’s another studio (around Greensboro maybe? Can’t remember where) too.

    well seeing as it was posted on “april fools day”... but still i can totaly see downtown raleigh being a great place to film the next movie. sure a lot of it is beach scenes but its got potential for the capital to….
