When we spoke to The War on Drugs lead singer Adam Granduciel back in October, he expressed how much he loved the city of Raleigh and has contemplated buying a farm and moving here. At the show that was coupled with that interview, Granduciel waxed very poetically about the City of Oaks, its people and Kings Baracade as a venue. They dedicated a song to their friend and Indy Week music editor Grayson Currin, and his dog Alice, as they proceeded to blaze through a passionate set of tunes. Local Dan Schram recorded that gorgeous set, which you can download over at Archive.org.

Granduciel and crew must be serious about their love for Raleigh, because The War on Drugs are returning to downtown to play Lincoln Theatre on Friday, March 9th with White Rabbits. White Rabbits played a great set in 2008 at Carolina Theatre when they open for Spoon and The Walkmen and surely this will be a great combo performance. White Rabbits have a new album, Milk Famous, that comes out the same week as this performance.

Tickets for this show cost $12 in advance and $14 at the door. The show starts at 9 p.m., and the Lincoln Theatre is at 126 East Cabarrus St., in Raleigh. Buy tickets here. This show is sponsored by Hopscotch Music Fest and Cat's Cradle, two of the leading forces in bringing great live music to Raleigh. Hopscotch is also presenting Real Estate at Lincoln later this Spring. With these as the promo shows, 2012's lineup is sure to be quite amazing.
