
The North Carolina Museum of Art has hired the international multi-disciplinary design firm Pentagram to re-develop the museum’s graphic identity. This partnership comes at an exciting time when the museum is in the construction phase of what looks to be a spectacular new addition. Pentagram’s design team will be working with museum directors, architects, and designers to re-design the museum’s logo, signage, and graphic standards.

Triangle Modernist Houses has become a very great web resource for locating modern homes in the triangle and their designers. George Smart has been getting lots of publicity in the past couple of months with the publication of his list which grows almost weekly.
Tomorrow (Saturday December 15, 2007) Triangle Modernist Houses with be on WPTF 680am at 9pm. Tune in to the Bob Langford show for one of the Triangle’s few radio broadcasts on Modernism - with George Smart, Jr. and alumnus Vinny Petrarca, owner of Tonic Design and Tonic Construction. It should be a well informed design discussion as Tonic (who recently completed a lovely pavilion at the NC Art Museum) is one of the most progressive housing firms in the Triangle, the state and soon the entire nation.

A new print of Pierrot le fou has made its way to Raleigh. The 10th feature from Jean-Luc Godard will be showing this week at Colony Theater (please see playing times listed below) and on February 15th at the North Carolina Museum of Art as part of their Winter Film series.

There are many more factors involved besides the scale of tear-down redevelopments. Obviously, opposite sides can’t agree on the tear-down discussion. That said, I am going to quickly propose a development integrity rating system to evaluate whole developments or single tear-down-rebuilds.
