Tuesday morning self-proclaimed redneck G105 DJ Bob Dumas had a 15-minute diatribe degrading Native Americans, calling them lazy and mocking their traditional dress. The comments were directed to an intern for the show who is engaged to a member of the Lumbee tribe.
“Trees will tap dance, elephants will drive in the Indianapolis 500 and Orson Welles will skip breakfast, lunch and dinner before NC State figures out a way to beat Houston.“ That was Dave Kindred’s quote in the Washington Post on the day of the 1983 NCAA Championship game. Little did he know that 25 years later, Raleigh would be celebrating that miracle day in grand fashion. Last Friday, April 4th, was the proper anniversary of the miracle game (and it was relived on ESPN Classic), but this weekend will be a full-on celebration to relive the magic in Downtown Raleigh.
