N.C. State Bell Tower silent march
At 4:30 p.m., faculty members, staff, students and the public will gather at the bell tower for a moment of silence followed by a silent march from the bell tower to the African-American Cultural Center for a short program. Parking is available in the Coliseum Deck on Cates Avenue. $1 fee for parking.

6th Annual Durham MLK Day Parade

The 6th Annual Durham MLK Parade will be held on Saturday January 19,
2008 at 12 noon. The Parade will begin at Heritage Square Shopping
Center, proceed down Fayetteville Street and end at Elmira Avenue.  The
theme this year is “Rediscovering Lost Values”. The Grand Marshal is
North Carolina State Representative, The Honorable Larry Hall (D-29th).

Free to the Public.
The weekend is filled with educational and
entertaining events for families to enjoy together, while emphasizing Dr.
King’s legacy of the power of education and spiritual enrichment.  The
event is designed to promote literacy.  It provides parents with training
and resources to instill a love of reading in their children as well as
an appreciation of the written and spoken word.

The Raleigh based Martin Luther King, Jr. All-Children’s Choir will be performing in concert with the newly assembled Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble for a sensational celebration of soul, gospel and jazz music. Meymandi Concert Hall, Progress Energy Center For The Performing Arts. The Choir’s special guest will be National Recording Artist Angela Spivey from Chicago and National Recording Artist Bruce Parham from Philadelphia.

This Annual Prayer Breakfast has evolved into the flagship event to start the MLK Holiday activities in the area. The Prayer Breakfast is free and open to the public. Doors open @ 7:15 AM. First come, first served.

The Latta House Foundation would like for you to JOIN FORCES with them at the 27th Annual Martin Luther King Memorial March. Everyone is asked to meet in front of the former site of Latta University/future site of Historic Latta Park at 1001 Parker Street, Raleigh, NC 27607. Hot chocolate and bottled water will be provided. Some MLK hand held signs will be distributed. You are also welcome to bring your own. Feel free to extend this invite to your family, friends, co-workers and congregation.
