4.2 Million North Carolina Voters

North Carolina had 700,000 more voters than it did in 2004. Kay Hagan, Beverly Perdue, and Barack Obama all look to succeed in the Tar Heel State and Obama won Wake County 57%-42%.

At 2am and 100% precincts reporting, Obama was leading the state 2,101,986 votes to 2,089,826 votes (50% even) over McCain. Kay Hagan led 2,207,819 votes to 1,855,352 votes for Elizabeth Dole (53%-43%). And North Carolina will have a new Governor, Beverly Perdue, who led 2,104,080 votes to 1,967,119 votes over Pat McCrory.

If this results hold up, it will be blue throughout and the first time North Carolina has voted for a Democratic President since Jimmy Carter in 1976.
