5th Annual fashionSPARK Hosts Fashion Events All Week

fashionSPARK is coming to downtown Raleigh this weekend.  fashionSPARK, now in its 5th year, is part of SPARKcon and is the largest annual fashion event in the Triangle. The popular fashion showcase is a must-see for fashion lovers and local culture fans. The main event is the Fashion Show this Friday, September 17th at 8p.m. in City Plaza in downtown Raleigh.  The show features the area’s top local fashion and accessories designers. This year’s fashionSPARK will feature 20 designers and 5 jewelry designers.

This is a dynamic year for fashionSPARK with events all week to be enjoyed by the public. An exhibit entitled “Designing a collection: The idea of fashion,” will be hosted at the Art Institute of Raleigh Durham. The exhibit, in collaboration with students from the Art Institute, will feature a behind-the-scenes glance at this year’s fashionSPARK designers at work in their studios. A gallery reception for this exhibit will be held this Thursday, September 16th from 5p.m.-7p.m. and will be open to the general public. Admission is $5.

The fashionSPARK Shop will be held in City Plaza on Saturday the 18th from 10a.m.-5p.m.  The public is invited to come out and shop their favorite fashionSPARK designers work the day after the Fashion Show! 

fashionSPARK Event Details:

September 14th -18th (Tue-Sat) - Exhibit:  “Designing a Collection:  The Idea of Fashion”  The exhibit showcases fashionSPARK designers, & documents the design process behind their fashion lines for this year’s Fashion Show.  The exhibit is created & installed by Fashion Marketing & Management Students from The Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham.  Location: The Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham:  318 Blackwell Street, Durham, North Carolina 27701 (in Durham’s American Tobacco Historic District).  Admission is free & open to the public:  Tuesday-Thursday 10a.m.-7p.m., Friday 10a.m.-5p.m., Saturday 10a.m.-2p.m.

September 16th (Thurs) Gallery Reception (For “Designing a Collection” Exhibit) - 5:00-7:00p.m.  Come celebrate with students who created this exhibit that features fashionSPARK designers!  Location: The Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham.  Tickets for the Gallery Reception will be sold at the door ($5 Admission). 

September 17th (Fri) - Fashion Show Pre-Party Cocktail Event at The Mahler - 5:30-7:30p.m.  This exclusive red carpet affair will be held prior to the fashionSPARK Fashion Show @ The Mahler Fine Art Gallery -228 Fayetteville Street- in downtown Raleigh.  Enjoy entertainment provided by various SPARKs in anticipation of the fun night ahead!  Secure your attendance to this sophisticated soiree by becoming a Gallery Glam or Street Chic sponsor of fashionSPARK - Visit:  http://SPARKcon.com/fashionSPARK for details.

September 17th (Fri) -Fashion Show After-Party @ White Collar Crime – 10:00p.m.  This fun late-night party will be held in downtown Raleigh following the fashionSPARK Fashion Show. The event is open to the public, admission charged at the door.   

September 18th (Sat) - fashionSPARK Shop – 10a.m. – 5:00p.m.  Stop & shop the day after the Fashion Show!  The shop will feature clothing & accessories from fashionSPARK designers!  (Located in City Plaza, downtown Raleigh off of Fayetteville Street near the SPARKcon Main Stage)
