The Raleigh City Museum put out a call for entries for its newest exhibit, Abstractations: Capital City Inspirations and Observations, a few months ago inviting artists to submit a piece in any medium that was abstractly inspired by the interacting with Raleigh. The result is a multi-media show juried by Sarah Powers which includes paintings, mixed media, sculpture, and even audio by the following artists:

Abie Harris
Adam Peele
Brian Shawcroft
Ben Spiker
Beth Worsley
Charlie Cawley
David Mueller
Edward Rhys Kirby
Elizabeth Marsh
Julia Hoffman
Lincoln Hancock
Nicole Hanner
Rick Bennett
Tim Ayers

David Mueller of Birds of Avalon submitted a 4 song musical piece, one of which you can listen to here.

If you are a member of the Raleigh City Museum, there is a special member preview party tonight, October 1 from 5:30-7:00. There will be live music by the Stray Dogs, and beer courtesy of the Busy Bee Cafe. Not a member?  You can join at the door.

The public opening reception is Friday, October 2 from 6:00-9:00, and will have drinks, free food courtesy of the Duck & Dumpling and live music by the Salty Dogs.
