AIGA has two openings this Friday. The first is the intercollegiate show at the Fish Market, the second the “re|THINK Our Environment in the Carolinas” poster contest at Designbox. Later this month two over-priced presentations by interesting designers.
re|THINK Opening Reception
AIGA Raleigh and Designbox Gallery invite you to attend the opening reception for the “re|THINK Our Environment in the Carolinas” poster exhibition. The reception is part of Raleigh’s First Friday Gallery Walk and takes place on Friday, April 4, 2008, from 7-10pm at Designbox Gallery. The twenty posters selected by the re|THINK judges will be on display, and a screen projector will display all 121 submitted poster designs and the re|THINK animated commercial.
The First Intercollegiate Student Exhibition Opening Reception
For the first time, schools in eastern North Carolina will join together to display their work in a single exhibition.
Presentations
Two Interesting presentations are also being presented by AIGA. Unfortunately they are both quite expensive for the general public. It may cost quite a bit to put on these events- but they rarely offer the value that one would expect from the cost. When NC State, AIA and many other groups host some of the worlds best designers for free- it feels insulting to pay AIGA for 1 hour book sales pitches. Let’s hope Sagmeister is more interesting than Ellen Lupton.

Things I Have Learned in My Life So Far
Saturday, April 19
5-7 pm Program
7-8 pm Reception & Book Signing
at Jones Auditorium
Meredith College
AIGA Raleigh is proud to present design icon Stefan Sagmeister, live at Meredith College, on his national tour to support his new book, Things I Have Learned in My Life So Far. Astonishingly, Stefan has only learned twenty or so things in his life so far. But he did manage to publish these maxims all over the world: as billboards, projections, lightboxes, magazine spreads, annual report covers, fashion brochures, and, recently, as giant inflatable monkeys.
