Los Angeles’ HEALTH serve up balls-out, primordial blasts of noise and fury. They’ve received a few mentions and good praise from Pitchfork. Savage Knights, who are now without saxophonist Jon Hubbard, are still bringin those aggitated yet smooth jazz numbers. You can check out a preview of Mt. Weather here. Mt. Weather features members of Grass Widow and former members of Gold Teeth. These three bands vary in style, which always makes for an entertaining show. It will be worth it, especially to all you dudes n’ ladies who WON’T be watching the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship.

What I’m about to say is biased and probably wouldn’t surprise you if you knew me, but I’ll say it anyway: Dark Meat bring all that you need. Their music and energy is pretty unique for this time and place. It should not be missed. Monotonix also “bring it” in that sense, but mind your potentially rock-addled brain. You may move from the stage…to the women’s restroom…to the bar, without blinking an eye, WITH THE BAND. Also, this venue is tiny. So, don’t be “fashionable late.“ Tardiness is going out of style and you’ll be stuck with nothing better to do if you are not inside Slims. This show is on a Tax Tuesday, so what would be a better way to hash out all of your 1040 frustration? I can’t think of anything else.
