Back in September of 2007, Mayor Meeker introduced the City of Raleigh to the first series of Art on the Move. CAT buses outfitted with art on each side roamed the city streets for six months. It has been over a year since these buses lost their art and on Saturday, May 16 at 11 a.m. in Moore Square Park (Artsplosure), new designs will be unveiled for the second series.
There are a couple of repeat artists from the first series, including Bart Cusick, Paul Friedrich, Anna Podris and Patrick Fitzgerald. New artists to the Art on the Move series will be Nancy Baker, Samuel Cox, Suzanne Kratzer, Ian Sands, Amy Sawyer, Pat Scull, Kaci Torres and a partnership between Tonic Design and Gail Peter Borden (both architects). Some of the art includes “a surreal forest landscape, comical flying clocks, giraffes playing next to swinging stoplights, and a 360-degree view of riders on a bus.”
