#BalloonBoy Captivates Bored Nation

Tired of tuning into the constant debate on health care, H1N1 vaccine shortages and the latest unemployment figures, projections, ramifications, etc. – it was Balloon Boy who broke through the clutter, ceased the talking heads’ incessant chatter and brought our nation together.

As if it were the sequel to Disney’s Flight of the Navigator, the oddly-shaped silver balloon took to the skies – however instead of going eight years into the future, Balloon Boy toured Denver suburbia.

It was during this flight when the good folks at Signal Design tipped me off to a YouTube video of Balloon Boy and his brothers rapping about beans and how they’re good for your heart. While partaking in the wonders of YouTube and watching perhaps one of the best rap videos ever made, a creeping feeling came over me and I began to expect Ashton Kutcher to pop out as if we were all on the best episode of Punk’d ever made.

As Balloon Boy’s prank became apparent I searched the Internets for an answer or reason behind it all. Thankfully FOX News brought it home in the fashion that only they can: bad parenting.

    Nice work on the Flight of the Navigator reference and picture.  It definitely brought a smile to my face.

    Totally agree about the hoax verdict though.  The GMA/CNN/NBC interviews, the home video of the launch, the family’s history…case closed.

    personally, i think we should blame the media on this one…specifically Pixar and that moview about balloons….
