What snow? Today has been all about the Spring concert series blooming in Raleigh. First, we get word that Ben Folds is coming to Raleigh in March. Then, My Morning Jacket announce they will play Cary’s Koka Booth in April. And now, Widespread Panic and Band of Horses have been put on the bill for a two night stay at the Time Warner Walnut Creek Music Pavilion on April 23 and 24. Raleigh Everymen Rejoice!

Both bands are a familiar with the capital city. Playing Raleigh is a yearly gig for Widespread Panic, but I think it’s been since November of 2007 since Band of Horses last played Raleigh (at Lincoln Theatre). Also, according to MyNC, Band of Horses is working on their next album “with producer Phil Ek in North Carolina — possibly Echo Mountain Recording Studio in Asheville.”

Public sale for tickets ($32 for Lawn to $37 for Reserved Seating) is 10am next Friday February 5 at Live Nation.

I’d love to see BOH again (saw them at the Grey Eagle in Asheville years ago - 100 people were there), but with Widespread. Think I’ll pass. Look forward to the new album though. Kids at Echo are doing great things.

Revolu, my thoughts exactly. Would love to see BOH do another club show around here.

Yep, was very excited to see Band of Horses is playing, until I read the full article title. BOH would fare better at a smaller venue and by not sharing the bill with a jam band.

“Two jam bands for the price of one.”

Since when is Band of Horses a jam band? Do we know the bands we post about?

Good God! I am so tired of every hipster in this town complaining because a show, restaurant, venue or WHATEVER isn’t perfect.

    Stop whining.

Hey, everybody, LOOK! Some guy’s tired of something he doesn’t like on the internet!

    Let’s listen to HIM!

The hipster hates nothing more than being called a hipster.

True ‘nuff, smitty. Even knowing the term is about the uncoolest thing there is.

Come on! You gotta admit it gets a little tiring!

    Well, Dave, you come on!

    1. Only matters if you let it. Only makes you tired if you’re ready to be tired.

    2. Band of Horses really AREN’T a jam band - of any sort - and this is a downright weird way to posit this show.

    3. Not a single one of these shows is worth getting all het up about either way (I think I’m with you there).

Well, see, the thing is, there IS a very popular jam band called The Horse Flies. Jed was making a joke (and, hey, maybe you don’t find it funny if you’re ignorant about the names of jam bands, but that’s not his fault, really) about that band joining Widespread Panic.
See also: “Waaaaah, someone said something I don’t like on the Internet, and I have spare time.”

Well, OK then! I will be the first to admit that it’s easier to be ignorant about the names of jam bands than it is to NOT be ignorant about the names of jam bands.
