Last year's Bee Ball Court
Like Raleigh? Like to have fun? You can combine your appreciation of both, and help raise money for a good cause at the Beehive Collective’s third annual Bee Ball, scheduled for Saturday, May 7 at the Berkeley Cafe. Raleigh favorites Countdown Quartet will provide the live music, and DJ Epic Fail will keep the dance party going afterward. Tickets will be $10, and will go on sale April 12
As in years past, there will be a Royalty Court with a King and Queen (or Queen and Queen, or King and King). Nominees collect votes at $1 apiece, and the duo with the most votes is elected. This year’s nominees are:
Christmas Abbott
Grayson Currin
Holly Eden
Claire Hester
Aly Khalifa
Christie Killette
Johnny Mack
Sterling Maxwell
Sara Phoenix
Jay Winfrey
The Beehive Collective is a group, primarily made up of young Raleigh women, that is pooling our collective talents and resources to organize fun projects that raise meaningful amounts of money for the causes we care about.
In short, we are pollinating community giving in Raleigh and inspiring young women to lead.
In 2010, the Beehive raised $25,000 through a combination of membership dues and fun events and granted that money to two local organizations working on food justice issues: Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and Catholic Charities. This year’s theme is Triple Bottom Line Sustainability, and we’re hoping to top last year’s total.
The Bee Ball will also mark the end of the Beehive’s spring membership drive. If you love helping Raleigh as much as we do, and if you’ve ever been curious about what we do, come out to the Bee Ball and find out how much it is to be a Bee. We will also have a table at the Saturday, April 16, Carolina Rollergirls bout at Dorton Arena, so stop by and talk to us when you’re at the bout. Brand new member who pay at least $50 of their annual dues at sign-up get a free ticket to the Bee Ball!
The Beehive would also like to thank our sponsors for the Bee Ball.
