I think the Colony is one the best kept secrets in Raleigh. Obviously the Rialto is super cool as well, but everyone knows about that place. I’ve been taking my girlfriend to Colony for awhile now, and we have attended several Cool Classics, most recently Total Recall. They have contests (I won a Remedy diner gift certificate once), good beer and wine, and a laid back vibe without all the madness of other multi-plex theatres. Cash only is a bit of a drag, but that’s really my only complaint. I’m glad you posted this Vince - Colony deserves some credit!

Would you rather they started processing credit cards (which would be terribly slow since they don’t have cash register computers and they would have to use dial-up credit card terminals) and roll the added cost of clearing credit cards to their admission and concession prices? I think you should enjoy the savings while you still can.

yea I see your point Micah…I’m not faulting Colony/Rialto for being cash only. I realize that the slight inconvenience is being passed on to the consumer. However, it does seem like every time I go to one of those theatres I overhear someone at the ticket window who either didn’t realize it was cash only or just forgot. Both Colony and Rialto are located within walking distance of ATMs so i don’t think its a major problem. I’ve never heard of anyone walking away simply b/c of that fact.
