Downtown’s long-standing breakfast joint, The Biscuit Station, is now Mema’s Biscuits, but don’t expect any big changes. The owner, affectionately known as “Mama,” passed away and her two daughters took over the business as of November 1st. So while the name has changed, the weathered sign remains the same, as do the friendly staff, dated decor, and hot fluffy biscuits. Truthfully, not much needs changing, except it would be great if the new management would offer cheddar as an alternative to the American cheese. Below is the updated menu.

Delicious biscuits (!!), but I hope their Health Code rating has gone up since I was there last. Still the only restaurant I have seen with that score. State Law, however, would have required them to be reinspected within 30 days (I think) of that time. That means that they MUST have improved it if they kept operating.
I’d like to ASK ABOUT 1 inch BISCUITS? What is there to know?
I’m not sure if I’ll order a “SANDWHICH”, but the biscuits sure sound good!
I’m guessing that Mema is pronounced ME-maw. Oh my gracious.
Oh god! heart attack! just about thought they might close. Sadness about the passing of the owner.
I just would like to put out there that it might be cool if they picked up some Sunday hours. That’s normally when the hangover hits the hardest and biscuit station sounds like the most.amazing.thing.ever. just saying. Love them!
Is that a new sign they have up?
That sign has been there as long as I’ve been in Raleigh.
Hmm… thought I remembered it as being more beat-up than that. Must be the sacrifice of too many brain cells.
I was just at the restaurant today (May 9), and the health rating was A (90.5). The parking lot was full, so it was a challenge to find a spot nearby.
That’s great news. This place has something, and I’d like to see it keep going, regardless of the name.
