Blount Street Commons Breaks Ground

There are already a couple of houses in the Blount Street Commons project that have been moved to Persons Street and a couple others that are currently lifted up for transport. These are both signals that the mixed-use development is underway, but nothing says ground breaking like Mayor Meeker and fellow council members with shovels in hand.

These are some of the oldest houses in Raleigh and the project will be a great connection between historic Oakwood, Mordecai, Seaboard Station and Downtown Raleigh. Also, the new AIA headquarters will be part of this development and provide even more walkable streetscape along Peace Street.

Perhaps I am missing something, but where is the parking for this retail going to be?

the best part is that they accurately rendered the city’s public transportation system!

There’s actually parking underneath each of the building.  Very little surface parking with the exception of the existing lot by the Burning Coal Theater.
