It seems that the rumors of late 2009 that Blue Martini on North West St. was closing are now true (according to their website). The website is also stating that a new bar, Vintage Bar and Lounge, will open sometime in February. This follows closely after Buckhead Saloon also on West St. closed earlier this week.
As well, a Raleigh Craigslist posting (Google image below) looking for positions at Vintage Bar and Lounge seems to have been deleted. We won’t assume or speculate on any of this and will continue to look into the future of this space.

Well, bad music and bad prices are not a good business strategy.
Right. Shouldn’t have sold such mediocre drinks at such silly-high prices.
But where will the cougars find a new watering hole?
I really hope when Vintage opens that they only serve white hipsters under 30, has an ipod full of Diplo/Animal Collective remixes, and just one tap of PBR because every bar in Raleigh should only cater to me and my friends.
Prices were crazy, what were they thinking?
Now if only Napper Tandy’s would shut its doors.

Awww, don’t pick on Nappers. I love the people that work there. I am so excited about the new bar.
Good riddance. Worst service ever. Next up to run out of town: Solas ![]()
I’ll never understand why so many people on here just love it when businesses fail and/or have to close due to economic reasons. Way to show your support regardless.
Cheers, DPK. I concur.
DPK, I agree, and Amen to Tired of Complaining too. That was darned funny. I, for one, will miss the Blue Martini. The staff was always nice; the drinks were fine, and it was one of the few places you could go see live music wiithout paying a cover. They were a great venue for a lot of good local talent.
I also agree with jdawg, DPK, and TheWaveLife.
Right on DPK Blue Martini might not have been the type of place I frequent, but I can’t remember a time it kicked my dog. Raleigh needs all kinds of bars/restaurants. I wish Vintage, Natty Greens, Cantina 18, and what ever goes in the old Buckhead space the best of luck.
