Although Justin Vernon, widely known as Bon Iver, doesn’t currently reside in Raleigh, he did live in the area for enough time to make a large impact on a couple of local bands and the Raleigh music scene. He helped record The Rosebuds last album Night of the Furies and has put together a fantastic remix of Get Up, Get Out for their Furies Remix Album. He also helped Christy Smith (formerly of Nola) record a couple of songs for her new band The Tender Fruit.
Also, Bon Iver will be touring with the Bowerbirds opening for Wilco at Koka Booth Ampitheatre!!! Raleigh likes to call him our own when we can. Vernon opened for Black Mountain recently in Brooklyn and we have the live video feed from Pitchfork.
“In this set from Glasslands Gallery in Brooklyn, Bon Iver gives a stirring performance of songs from For Emma, Forever Ago.”
