At around 10:00pm on Monday night, Greg Hatem - owner of the Raleigh Times and Morning Times - was allegedly struck by a tow-truck outside his home above the Raleigh Times Bar.  Three police cars were on the scene within moments of the accident and were questioning patrons of the Times.

No further details are currently available, but reports suggest that the real-estate mogul may have sustained minor injuries to his leg.

I am horrified by the holocaust inflicted upon the patron saint of Downtown Raleigh Greg Hatem.

I am organizing a food drive to benefit the Greg’s Shin Fund and feed the young, impressionable people horrified by witnessing the atrocities of January the 5th.

As you may have heard, the candlelight vigil scheduled for this morning went awry when several young hipsters set their beards aflame.

A festival titled “Beard-Aid” has been set up to benefit the victims of the Battle of Raleigh. My Morning Jacket, Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes and every other band that sounds exactly the same are scheduled to play at the corpse of King’s Barcade.

Donations should be sent to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Oh, so that’s what happened.  I was walking right by there about 10:30 (possibly minutes before that picture was taken) or so and he was standing just where he is in that photo with his new bride.  He didn’t appear hurt in any significant way, at least to someone walking by.

    I hope he’s alright.

I was sitting in Sitti while it happened. I got to see the whole thing, the tow truck guy was really belligerent, he did his Greg’s shin pretty hard. You could see that much from across the street.

Cheers BuckyK. However, in the news biz it is what we call a “talker.” Not close to hard-hitting but something people will be talking about.

In a related story, Empire has purchased every towing company in Raleigh.

Why bash Greg Hatem? He’s a great guy who has done a lot to revitalize Raleigh. Sounds like a bit of jealousy from some of the other posters. How sad.

The story DOES sound a bit like the Onion.

The real question is whether he hit the towtruck BACK!
