Brixx, a small chain of pizza restaurants which started in Charlotte and located in only NC, SC and Tennessee will open its second location in Raleigh. According to a friend of our friends Raleigh Philosophical Society, the new spot will be in Cameron Village. There is currently one other Brixx Pizza in Raleigh up in Brier Creek.
The Brixx Pizza locations in Charlotte include a few urban spots, including the “uptown” location that is embedded in the bottom of a parking deck and has been a lively indoor and outdoor restaurant for the past 10 years. Brixx offers wood-fired pizzas, pasta, salads and sandwiches. The restaurant is also known to have a good beer selection and usually hosts a few local brews as well. Essentially, it’s the equivalent of having another Mellow Mushroom just up the street from Glenwood, except with wood-fired pizza instead of oven baked. Maybe we can get Fuel Pizza from Charlotte to come too. Obviously Raleigh has one of the highest demands of pizza of any city in the US.
No certainty about opening date or actual location in Cameron Village yet, but we’ll keep you updated.

Cameron Village Pizza Brixx Pizza
I think there were rumors that this was going to move into the new strip by Oberlin Court. Not sure where this would fit in at cameron village. Old Blockbuster Video location perhaps.
I’m all for more choices for a slice in Raleigh. It’s a shame it’s not opening in Downtown. I’m unsure why there is such a snarky tone to this post. I guess New Raleigh is upset that they aren’t opening another art gallery or somewhere that plaid-shirted bearded kids can get their irony on.
Brixx isn’t bad, but with Lily’s in a 5 mile radius, it’s not even a decision for me. Seems like a good addition to Cameron Village though.
@Phillo - Where’s my Facebook ‘Like’ button when I need it?? I’ll take good pizza over a new art gallery any day!
I agree with Hackles10 - seems like the old Blockbuster would be the best fit. I just hope there’s plenty of outdoor seating!
Any official word on the location?
I remember hearing about this last year, however they were supposed to go into Oberlin Court. Things change?
I really think oberlin road would be the “best” place for it. They have great frontage and a huge side porch. With the traffic that this could generate, it would go a long way to filling up the rest of the storefronts.
Who cares about their pizza - $1.99 domestic and NC pints on Monday!
Ditto what Jon said! Go to Brixx on Mondays for the 2$ pints. The Chapel Hill location has a great selection of beers on tap, hopefully a Cameron Village location would as well. I wasn’t as impressed with the Brier Creek location.
Had no idea they had drink specials. Nice.
Are we really going to pretend like Cameron Village is in the “downtown area?”
He said downtown AREA, and I agree fully. The way Raleigh is sprawling out, I will soon consider anything inside the beltline to be the downtown AREA.
Brixx going into Cameron Village is bad intel. The really good news is a local Raleighite proprietor, Jason Smith of 18 Seaboard, is opening his newest restaurant creation (Cantina 18) in Cameron Village tomorrow!! It’s directly across from the Village Draft House on Daniels St. I bet it will soon be the best Mexican food restaurant in the city!
Andrew: I officially live downtown (Glenwood South) and walk to Cameron Village in about 10 minutes. Cameron Village is a lot closer to DT than people think it is.
I agree that it’s not officially DT but it’s not a far stretch at all to include it in the discussion.
Enigma….is there a Brixx coming? If not cameron village, where?
I know for a fact that a pizza place is NOT going into the Blockbuster location. My guess would be Oberlin Court.
Cameron Village is not technically in downtown Raleigh, but it is the only retail venue for people living and working in downtown Raleigh.
Why does it matter if it’s officially downtown? It is in the city limits and as one poster said Raleigh is so spread out, everything is really downtown. I think a bookstore/coffee shop akin to Krammerbooks and Afterwards in DC would be a better fit. Downtown needs something more than bars, bars, bars. Something for your brain and conversation at night—the triangle is the most educated city in America right?
Finally a Pizza joint in Cameron Village. I live between Glenwood and CV and have been hoping for a pizza style restaurant to open up since I moved in. There are plenty of other types of food in there but no pizza. I file this under the “Good news everyone” futurama-style tab.
Piccola Italia is in Cameron Village, and one of my favorite pizza joints in the city.
I’d hardly classify Piccola Italia as a “pizza joint”.
They have great pie, serve it by the slice at lunch, and have a counter in the back dedicated to take out orders - mostly pizza. So, I’d hardly classify your comment as valid.
We have been getting take out pizza from Piccola Italia for over 15 years.
We love it. It is up there with Lilly’s and Capital Creations.
I’ve heard great things about Brixx, and agree with hackles - Oberlin Court would be the best place for it. I’m excited to try it!
I can’t believe I forgot about the drink specials. The pizza is good, but the real attraction is the cheap beer!
They are not going to Cameron Village. Priscilla’s Bridal of Boston is taking the Blockbuster space. IF Brixx is making a move to the area, it will be to the end-cap at Oberlin Court. Please check your sources and update the article. Thank You.
Eat Frank’s.
Dan from Detroit- you should have the pizzza at Piccola Italia Pizza & Restaurant on Woodburn in Cameron Village!! They have the best Italian Food, too!

Vegan cheese! We just need a Z Pizza downtown and we’d be set.
wcbutler, prepare to be happy. Z Pizza is opening at 421-103 Fayetteville St. supposedly in June.
It is interesting to see all of the comments from people who know for a fact that Brixx is not coming to Cameron Village proper. Do you all like crow?
