Bulldog Pottery At The Nature Art Gallery

Fans of contemporary craft have until November 2nd to see the work of Bulldog Pottery in the Nature Art Gallery, located on the second floor of the Museum Shop at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. Bruce Gholson and Samantha Henneke, both graduates of the College of Ceramics at Alfred University, are the friendly faces behind Bulldog Pottery in Seagrove, NC. Together they have a developed unique molybdenum crystal glazes, widely collected for the iridescent surfaces peppered with delicate crystal growth that can range from matte to luster. Many of Gholson’s pieces feature fish and reptile fossil motifs masterfully brushed on with porcelain slip. Henneke is recognized for her wall boxes and vessels featuring intricately glazed insects and flowers adapted from her photography. It is easy to see why this is the couple’s third stint at the Nature Art Gallery.
