The Avett Brothers Album I and Love and You on Sale Now

Advertise on NR

The day is finally here. The Avett Brothers’ new album I and Love and You is now available on iTunes for $9.99, 30 minutes early. So head on over to this link on iTunes and get yourself a very mature album by once of the biggest bands North Carolina has seen in a while.

The LP, CD and extended box set should be available at all music retailers (including Starbucks and AHEM SCHOOOLKIDS!) on Tuesday.

Let’s all guess where The Avetts album will fall on the Billboard Top 100 and iTunes. Top 10 on both? (The album is already at #10 on iTunes, and #30 for some reason but I’m assured by the band that they are sorting it out) It seems the Avetts are in the top 50 on Amazon just on presales. And Starbucks? This could be huge.

Also, check out this great write up in this weekend’s Charlotte Observer. More information at The Avett Brothers Dot Com

And if you missed The Avetts on Letterman last night, check out their performance of the title track I and Love and You below (video from Triangle Music)

Does anyone know why the album shows up twice on iTunes? Is there a difference? Is it going to screw their chances at being a top album?

Maybe I am missing it and will gladly concede, but can someone please explain to me the Raleigh connection with this band? I believe they are from Concord.

You would think they founded this city with the attention they receive on a Raleigh news blog.

Last I checked, their last concert in the area was in Cary.

Will this record signify the connection they’ve formed with the dave mathews band while playing shows with him?

Their last concert in the area was at Walnut Creek opening for the Dave Matthews Band.

I think the fact that they’re from NC and a potential Top Ten album is newsworthy on a blog about the capitol of NC.

hmm, apparently it’s capital, not capitol.

I will concede the point about the concert. My mistake. I must have missed that one.

So, by the North Carolina capital standard, NR should feature information about:

    Clay Aiken
    Tori Amos
    Chris Daughtry
    Fantasia Barrino
    Randy Travis

All I am saying is that there is a lack of information about people actually from Raleigh doing big things, but there is a more than abundant stream about every step the Avett Brothers take and they are from the Charlotte metro area.

Zach Galifaflakdsjfkl;a was in one of the biggest movies of the summer. Evan Rachel Wood was on True Blood. Josh Hamilton is freaking amazing and has one of the best stories ever.

As someone underwhelmed by the Avetts’ pleasant-enough-pop-folk, I do wish Raleigh would get behind one of the many great bands from right here.  If the Avetts make the top ten, super for them.  Now, how about a big splash of spotlight for the acts trying to break out of the Triangle?  Or just get their first gig?

Thanks for the story ideas DaveB.

DaveB: Look, if you want a band to be fauned over around here, tell at least one of the members to grow an old-timey beard. Surprise them daily until their expression is a definitive “holy crap did we accidentally just shoot Stonewall Jackson” and then it’s Prime Time.

I kid. This blog is written by individuals who have certain interests and they write about them. I don’t care for much of the music featured here but I am no proponent of the Fairness Doctrine or a recurring feature called Banjo-Free Friday.

Lack of information about people (and I would hope places and things count also) actually from Raleigh? In looking at the just the last 6 posts on this blog 5 of them are about people, places or things that have to do directly with Raleigh. I’m sure we can all accept a few posts that may have a more NC feel to them don’t you think?

17 posts, by my count, contain this bands name. Jedidiah has major wood for Avett Brothers.

    Dear Hater,

I am so sorry your music career never took off and you are still strumming your $100 guitar in your garage when the wife is not home.  While I totally understand you are still disappointed about the ‘Battle of the Bands 1996’ loss, you really need to stop whining or your wife is going to leave you for a hot musician who does not work at SAS.

    Sincerely,

    A Non-Hater
