Call For Artists: Abstractations

The Raleigh City Museum announces a call for artists for the upcoming juried exhibition, Abstractations: Capital City Inspirations and Observations. They are seeking all mediums (painting, sculpture, graphic design, collage, photography, film, etc.) that were created by Raleigh artists as a direct response of interaction with the City of Raleigh. It could be a painting inspired by the skyline of downtown, a series of color-study squares inspired by the design of the shimmer wall, a rough sculpture of an acorn, or more. However abstractly the theme of Raleigh ties in, you must be able to provide a brief statement on how it does so. This is a great chance for all creatively minded people to explore their interpretive take on the city.

Submissions are due to the museum by September 4, 2009. Selected artists will be notified September 11, and pieces are due to the museum by September 18. The show will open with a First Friday reception on October 2, 2009.

$10 submission fee per piece. Museum members may submit one piece at no charge, each additional piece for $5. Artists may submit as many pieces as they would like.

All pieces need to be available for sale at $200 or less.
