Capital Club 16 is one of our favorite restaurants/bars to open in the past year, hands down. The restaurant, which replaced Champa Thai at the corner of Martin and Salisbury Streets last June, has been the talk of downtown for the past 365 days. From their excellent beer and drinks selection to the delicious German-inspired menu (currywurst!), CC16 is a unique hangout that downtown has needed for a long time.
This weekend, owners Jake and Shannon Wolf will celebrate one year in business with an all day party (starting at 4pm) with a cask of Foothills beer, spiked fresh watermelon punch (which we hear is superb), dark beer roasted suckling pig and Berlin street sausages served outside throughout the day. As well, there will be a strongman krug holding competition and a watermelon seed spitting contest. Summer! The infamous Tony Woodard will be the grand marshal for the day so expect a few surprises in the late hours of the night.
