The owners of Capital Club 16, Jake and Shannon Wolf, sent over the following information (in the form of a nice personal letter to the city of Raleigh) about their new restaurant venture in Downtown Raleigh that we mentioned back in January. It’s a little more than we knew a month ago, but it’s mostly good to see that things are still moving forward.

Greetings Raleigh. We recently signed the lease on the ground floor of the historic Capital Club building downtown at 16 West Martin Street. This spring, we’ll be opening a new restaurant called Capital Club 16. There’s a great energy downtown, and we’re really excited about joining Raleigh’s locally owned restaurant scene.

Capital Club 16 will serve traditional American food with European influences.  The food that I love to cook is classic and simple using farm fresh, seasonally conscious ingredients.  My inspiration comes from the different kitchens I’ve worked in from New York to Germany to Atlanta to my family’s Kansas farm country roots.

Capital Club 16 will serve lunch and dinner, as well as a consolidated bar and take out menu. The lunch menu will offer ‘slow food done quickly’ with prices ranging from 4-8 dollars. Dinner entrees will range from 10-18 dollars. Early evenings, we’ll also have a blue-plate special. The bar will serve house cocktails, bottled and tap beers, and specialize in bottles of wine under 30 dollars.

For the décor, our idea is to create a timeless traditional American look that fits the style of the art deco building. We’re incorporating reclaimed wood from 19th century North Carolina mills to salvaged pieces from historic New York restaurants.

See you in the spring. And in the meantime, stay tuned… our website and email list will be coming soon.

Can’t wait to see what they will offer up and if it keeps a traditional Art Deco feel that could be classy without being stuffy!
