Champa Thai Cafe Reopens, Offers Cash Deals

Last time I spoke with Champa Thai Cafe back in April, they mentioned they were “taking a break” for a couple of reasons. One of those reasons was the economy and this shows now that they have opened back up with “new stimulus deals” on their menu, with one price for credit card payments and a dollar cheaper for meals paid for with cash. Also, a downsized website that states that they will be open from 10-7pm now. Lunch and very early dinner.

Dollar Dollar Bill Ya’ll!

Other than saving on credit card fees, why are they giving discounts for paying cash?  I’m thinking that violates the agreement with the credit card companies.

I don’t understand the taking a break because of the recession—did the landlord and employees take a break on their respective rent and wages?

    Anyway..good luck on the relaunch

Awesome news about the new hours.  The red curry is awesome.

We just went there tonight at 6 pm and they were not opened.  The door has a modification to the hours that says now opened until 3 pm which really doesn’t help for dinner.

I don’t think their website is very accurate unless something randomly happened tonight (Monday 6/1) that made them close early.

I am excited about the cheaper menu though…

MasterCard and Visa do not allow credit card service fees but they do allow cash discounts.  I know, sounds stupid.

Thats the way gas use to be.  The posted price was for credit cards, if you went in and paid cash it was cheaper.

Sounds like a convenient way to not report sales and save on taxes!!!

If only I had cash in my pockets today! As the picture shown in this article is their only menu, they don’t list drinks or anything else. I decided to get some caffine to amp me up for the 3 block walk back to my car afterward (love that downtown parking)– imagine my surprise that the bill showed over $2 for a small bottle of coke! The bad part isn’t that lunch cost me $9.50 or that it’s a one man show and painfully slow service – but the Pad
Thai was Panda Express quality! If a Thai restaurant can’t get Pad Thai right – wow.  A friend recently ate at the Brier Creek location and it sounds really good. I would try the Brier Creek location, but I won’t be returning to Champa on Martin St.
