Cheapest Lunch In Town? Not Anymore…

Well, maybe. If Harris Teeter’s daily $2.49 submarine sandwich was in fact the clear winner for most economical (and sufficient) lunch in town, the lead just got cut. Our favorite rotating sandwich-of-the-day has gone up to $2.99, another sign that inflation is about to kick in from doubling the amount of cash in circulation. What’s next, $3.99 sub of the day? Probably more like $5.99.

I did not know about this sandwich period!  I know what I’m getting tomorrow.  smile

I saw this the other day!  I normally grab the Harris Teeter sub once or twice a week and it was definitely $2.99!  I wasn’t going to argue because they were giving away “free” cookies but I thought to myself, “Actually they are charging us $.50 for the cookie!“

Still a good deal in my book.  I dont think they changed the price on their friday special, footlong for $3.99!

News flash people!!  Try making your own sandwiches.  It’s a lot cheaper!

If you are buying $2.99 subs every day, then you are choosing to pass up cheaper options and, in my view, shouldn’t be complaining about it.  It’s kind of like the driver of the SUV who’s whining about gas prices, or the person complaining about the price of bottled water.

Still, $2.99 seems like a pretty good price for a sub to me.

    hey Jackass,

Not everyone sits with their face glued to a computer screen all day and has the luxury of walking down the row of cubicles over to the company fridge!

Hey jackass, piss poor planning on your part does not equal luxury on my part.  Make it before you go to work and keep it at your desk.  Most lunch meat won’t go bad in 4 hours or even days.

i doubt anyone is surprised that the dog food you eat for lunch doesn’t spoil for days.

Preserved meats are already “spoiled” with bacteria, so stay fine at room temperatures.  Others have so much salt nothing would grow on them anyway.  I know you’re probably scared of germs being a silly American but you can leave a sandwich out all day.  If you weren’t also a lazy American you’d figure that out and eat better for lunch.  $2.00 gets a very respectable amount of good lunch meat.

You guys realize you’re arguing over lunch meat, right?

Just thought I’d throw that out there.

It beats the hell out of working.

I just hit up the food court inside the closest Sams Club warehouse store. Hot dogs, polish sausage “dogs”, salads, pizza, pretzels, deserts, all can beat this $3 HT sub for lunch. Yeah you need a membership to get past the front door so just find one coworker with one to take along. You don’t have to present your membership card at the food court and they take cash & credit cards so there’s no need to split your party’s bill out later. I have yet to try Costco but I hear its an even better deal. Also I can phone ahead and pick up hot 16” pizzas for under $9 for larger get togethers.

Costco is a steal of a deal, and WalMart has the same low-priced but good pizza as Sam’s, bc it owns it.
Huge slice of pie and a drink-$2, add a smoothie for $1 (approx.)
