City Government of Raleigh is all over Twitter

The City of Raleigh is all over Twitter like Ashton and P Diddy.  Today they made a press release highlighting the various feeds they now offer.  It all started with @RW911 a pretty much useless feed of everything reported to 911.  But now, now they are tweeting all of their news releases! Yay city of Raleigh.  The previous city CIO could never get an RSS feed for the news page, but now they are pushing them through Twitter. We are thinking citizens will appreciate it, bc unlike the website, they will be able to find what they are looking for on the twitter accounts. We think they saw it on Conan and realized they were missing out on Hanna-Montana’s-slow-coming-lattes. Now if they could figure out how to handle comments and actually follow citizens.. they would actually be using the service for more than a river of their media relations.  RSS would still be appreciated.

You can follow our tweets at @NewRaleigh.

  • @RaleighGov - This feed features links to any news releases and alerts issued by the City of Raleigh;
  • @HillsboroughSt  - This feed features frequent updates to the Hillsborough Street Roundabout projects;
  • @RaleighParks – This feed features any news and information related to the City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department;
  • @CORTraffic – This feed features scheduled road closings due to construction or road races in the City of Raleigh; and,
  • @RW911  – this feed features traffic accidents reported to the Emergency Communications Center.

    One of the city council candidates is using twitter too. Lee Sartain is an active twitterer @sartainraleigh. Maybe others are too, but his is the only one I’ve noticed. Pretty kick ass website too.
