City Limiting Volunteer Assistance Until Power is Restored

From our vantage it looks like the city is having a tough time taking advantage of volunteers because of the dangers of fallen electrical lines. Progress energy says that 'whole sections of the grid are missing.'

The City of Raleigh is limiting volunteer opportunities in the areas hit by Saturday’s storm to organizations such the Triangle Chapter of the American Red Cross

The number power lines and trees brought down by the storm create a hazardous situation best left to those that are experienced in dealing with emergencies.

Volunteer opportunities for assistance may be available through the city of Raleigh after the power lines are restored in the hardest hit areas. To register your desire to provide assistance, please email Dan Howe, Assistant City Manager, at
