In a very impressive and progressive move, the City of Raleigh City Council voted on Tuesday to synchronize all lights in downtown Raleigh.

In a unanimous vote, the Red Light, Green Light Act passed after being put to the council by a concerned resident. “I love driving my car through downtown Raleigh on my way from North Raleigh to Garner every day” the citizen (who remains anonymous) said. “But, I hate having to stop at red lights, especially when no one is coming from the other direction. I mean, McDowell and Dawson are synched up to let all the through traffic fly through, why shouldn’t all the other streets be synchronized.”

Obviously she was right because after only 17 minutes of discussion, the city council realized it was a no-brainer and making residents sit in their cars and stare at empty storefronts in downtown wasn’t the way they wanted their residents spending their time in downtown Raleigh. “I’d rather just get them in and out” one councilman said.

This article is apparently a cruel joke, but is there really a reason why more lights downtown aren’t synchronized?
