Convenient as Can Be

Ever wonder where you can buy a six pack of beer in downtown Raleigh?  There is Peace Street Market, the mart at The Morgan Center, Capital City Grocery and a handful of gas stations that surround the downtown grid.  But what about within the main grid?, those who live and work in downtown?  There isn’t a place from my understanding but that is about to change as a new mart creeps its way into an old storefront on Wilmington Street.

Of course alcohol isn’t the only thing that will be sold in the mart but it is something that is at the moment not available.  There are a few of necessity marts in the grid including another on Wilmington (the owners of which are opening either this store or the shop going across the street), one tucked away at the end of Fayetteville Street and CVS, but all of these close early.  Hopefully this one will stay open longer and cater to the night crowd that fills the streets most weekends (and some weekdays).  If it’s cigarettes or tylenol you need this may be the place.  And rumors are there is a boutique wine/beer store going across the street at the corner, but construction on that is going very slowly.
