Curbside Voting in Downtown Raleigh

imageAfter casting my votes this morning, I noticed something quite extraordinary as I was leaving the Board of Elections in Downtown Raleigh.

I passed a sign that said “Curbside Voting” with a handicap logo on it.  I did a double take.  I thought my voting experience at the Board of Elections building in Downtown was as easy as it came.  I thought wrong.  Sure enough, beside the sign was a car with what I assume to be a husband and wife inside with two clipboards.  They looked to be over retirement age and were bubbling away.  This could be something that has been in place for years in various locations but there was something quite nice about seeing it in the downtown grid.  Raleigh felt urban.  Raleigh felt in tune.  Raleigh felt alive with election fever.  Raleigh felt progressive.

Elections in North Carolina have started and early voting is the way to go.  I was number 2207 since last Thursday, just at this one location.  Are You Registered?  If not, there are No Excuses, because you can register at the multiple polling places all around Raleigh.

Find you early voting location.

Unfortunately the downtown (BOE) early voting location closes at 5 on weekdays.  Instead of all the other locations which close at 7.  So I guess if I want to vote after work one day I’ll have to go to Chavis or Pullen.
Hard to keep boosting downtown as not a place where everything closes at 5 when even the voting booth is closing then.  Jeez.
