Cy Rawls, R.I.P.

According to various post on his blog, Cy was admitted to the hospital at Duke South (on Wake Forest Rd) on Tuesday. They found some swelling in his brain. They also did a chest x-ray and found that he had pneumonia.  The cancer started working faster than Cy’s body could fight it. A decision was made to take Cy off of the respirator first thing this morning.

Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.  Information on memorial services will be posted on Cy’s Blog very soon.  Goodnight and Godspeed, Mr. Rawls.

    This is really sad news. I am proud to have done everything I could to help him and his family out by hosting benefits here at Slim’s. Our staff sends it condolences to his family. More people in this community should be inspired by Cy and support local music.

    Although many of us did not know Cy Rawls personally, we were able to get a glimpse at how great of a person he was through everything his friends did to help him and his family through this ordeal. My condolences to all of Cy Rawls family and friends and if anything good can come out of this it would be the sense of community that has been solidified through all that has been done in his name. This is a sad day.
