Dan Akroyd Promoting Crystal Head Vodka in Raleigh Tuesday

For some odd reason, Dan Akroyd has chosen Raleigh to promote his Crystal Head Vodka which comes in a glass skull bottle (what no conehead?). He will be coming to town with Social Magazine on Tuesday and will visit various bars in the downtown area. Information below.

Dan Akroyd will appear live in Raleigh, NC at The Pourch, Cashmere , Solas, and Ugly Monkey on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 with Social The Magazine to discuss the legend of the Crystal Head and Crystal Head Vodka - Mark your calendars!

Hahaha, this is SO random. And I don’t see any of those, except maybe Solas, being profitable in trying to upsell this new brand. If we’re not seeing 360 yet (the “luxury eco-vodka”), I don’t know why any bars would take on this brand.

If he doesn’t come and visit us at the Landmark, where we’ve been serving ‘THE HEAD’ for the past four months, we’ll start using the empty skulls for window cleaner and decant his lovely vodka into old 40 oz’s.

With the recent deaths of our beautiful teens who live here in Raleigh, why do we keep promoting, advertising, and drinking alcohol? Just what we need, another type of alcohol promoted by another celebrity. How many people have to die from this poison?

It is what it is. People will always do stupid things. Don’t label something as “poison” just because of the actions of some morons.

Drink in moderation, know your limits, and never drink and drive. Some people are just too dumb to realize that they should call a cab or a friend. Drunk or sober, going 80+ mph down a back road is stupid.

It’s not so much a PR thing as it has to do with brand representation/broker (closed state), the sponsor (Social Magazine), and other commitments.

I was surprised to read though that Landmark has carried it for a while and they’re not on the list. That would’ve at least added a little diversity to the lineup.

I’m honestly surprised that NewRaleigh was the first (and only) way I heard of this event.

Hope it’s a good time for anyone who heads out to check it out.
