Daniel Bernard Roumain and the Mission: SQ Unit at Lump

DBR and the Mission is a well loved group that plays symphonic fusion music that blends “funk, rock, hip-hop and classical music into a new, personal sonic vision.“  The 9 member group is playing a show Saturday night at State’s Stewart Theater and tickets are $28.  Whats better, the group is also playing a FREE show at Lump at 7pm tomorrow night, Friday the 8th.

Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) unites his classical music roots with a multicolored spectrum of contemporary black popular music. DBR is a composer, violinist, and bandleader who seamlessly blends funk, rock, hip-hop and classical music into a new, personal sonic vision.

The SQ UNIT, a string quartet that also performs as part of DBR’s band – THE MISSION, will perform a range of works, including pieces written by DBR. In addition, DBR will discuss the influence of the visual artist on a composer and how he incorporates their work into his pieces.

These guys are a must see - DBR is one of my favorite NY artists - I’ve been here (from Raleigh) for a few years now and DBR is worth seeing in large venues as well as smaller ones…  Walking to BAM this eveneing, I was thinking back to a recent gig I witnessed by DBR at this venue - certainly still floats around in my mind…

    Enjoy!
