David Byrne to Play Meymandi Hall

Oh yeah! This is probably the most exciting concert announcement that Raleigh has had in years. Fresh off another amazing collaboration with Brian Eno, the legendary Talking Heads singer will grace the capital city with his presence in December.

Byrne has been touring around the states on the “Songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno” tour….but it’s only him and songs that the two of them wrote together (from both My Life in the Bush of Ghosts and Everything that Happens Will Happen Today) .  According to this wiki entry, he even played Once in a Lifetime and a handful of other Talking Heads songs at the first show of the tour in September. And he opened with Strange Overtones, easily the best song on the new album. If you haven’t head the new album, grab it here. It is one of the best albums of 2008.

David Byrne
Meymandi Hall
Monday December 8th
Tickets go on Sale October 10th (the same day that Jonathan Richman plays Local 506 in Chapel Hill!).  No Price has been set for tickets yet.

Caught the show in Atlanta a few weeks ago… it was amazing. One of the best I have seen all year. He played a good number of old Talking Heads songs along with stuff from the new album. He even had a little three person interpretive dance troop that almost stole the show. Definitely catch this one when it comes to town.

I saw him in Austin last weekend.  He played Life during wartime, Cross-eyed and Painless, and Once in a lifetime.  all the old and new solo Byrne stuff sounded good.  He and his band both sounded real strong.  same as it ever was.

awesome!!! I first saw the Talking Heads in Providence, RI in 1983…too bad ENO is not touring with the band…remember that Eno cut his musical teeth with Roxy Music on the first 2 Roxy albums in ‘72 and ‘73, has put out 4 fabuous rock and roll albums and numerous ambient stuff..also producer of some U2 albums and collaboration with Robert Fripp…
