Available today is a three song preview EP for the Avett Brothers album I and Love and You which comes out on September 29th (pushed back a couple of times). From the contemplative and orchestrated “I and Love and You” to the upbeat “Kick Drum Heart” and finally the classic rock/folk inspired “Laundry Room”, this EP is a good taste of what to expect when the album drops in the fall. The EP is available for $2.97 at iTunes.
The Avetts also plan on releasing details on the album pre-order and a special deluxe package later this week.

Very cool way to preview the full release- but I have to think all the leaking hurts the final feeling of excitement you get when you pick up a new album. On the other hand I could see how they are fighting piracy with this.
I’m trying to figure out how I could be more excited about this album…
So far I’m stumped.
After a quick listen to the samples on iTunes, I was not fully happy with the arrangement of the final two songs. I suppose I loved the Avett Brothers performance of Laundry Room on NPR, but on the record they use some overdubs and seem to auto-tune the vocals to make them perfectly on pitch. I have enjoyed the backporch feel of their previous recordings, so I hope the album highlights their live performance energy without sounding over-produced (I think that “I and Love and You” was a perfect balance). Does anyone agree/disagree?
enough about the avett brothers already. they’re not even from raleigh.
Avett Bros rock.
