Reportedly, the Downtown Raleigh Amphitheater’s construction will be wrapped up in six weeks (at the end of May) and start hosting concerts the first week in June (not far off schedule) with a total of 8 shows already booked. We’ve found out about three of those shows, so there are still five out there under wraps by the City of Raleigh and Live Nation. Let’s hope those “first week in June” concerts are someone big as there isn’t much time to sell tickets for those shows unless they expect tickets to go fast (e.g. tickets go on sale Friday for the OAR show in August).

Raleigh “Boutique” Amphitheater Schedule (thus far):

06/06 - Backstreet Boys
07/23 - Paramore, Tegan and Sara, New Found Glory
07/25 - Shinedown, Chevelle, Puddle of Mudd, Sevendust, 10 Years
07/28 - The Slightly Stoopid Legalize It Tour featuring Cypress Hill and Collie Buddz
08/10 - O.A.R., Citizen Cope
08/25 - Sound Tribe Sector 9
09/18 - Black Crowes
TBA - Heart

Good point about the quick turnaround needed on tickets. Seems like they might aim to pull in some local acts to give the amphitheater a proper opening if they really are shooting for a June start.

I have a friend who works for the booking company and he said that GWAR is going to be the first show on June 5th.

What happened to the tensile structure roof?  Are these renderings omitting it to show how the seating and stage are laid out or is it going to be roofless?

I think the tent was axed.

Which begs the question, what is the city doing with the tent they bought?
