@ isaac,  He had to in order to film that segment.  He couldn’t be in Raleigh and NYC @ the sametime.  He’s a pitmaster, not a time and space master.

I eat at The Pit quite often, and haven’t seen Ed in a while. On the last couple of visits, I found the food to be disappointing.  Overcooked ribs, fried chicken that was old and greasy, and maybe, the worst burger in town.  I really hope The Pit turns it around, because for the money, the food should be better and more consistent.

Last time I ate there (2 weeks ago), it was as good as ever.  I have had ribs all over Memphis and the south and the Pit’s are the best.  I’m sure it’s probably just as good as everything else, but really who orders a burger at the Pit?

Sounds like Brockton has an axe to grind.

I will second brockton’s post.  For the price the food really is not that good.  That is not to take anything away from Mr. Mitchell’s past pitmaster prowess its just that such food is best served in a greasy spoon environment with greasy spoon prices.

Ed is still Ed, but the Pit is no Mitchell’s.

We went on Friday night and had a great time.  Great service and exceptional food.  My only complaint was that the as advertised 6.0% IPA was probably closer to 10%.  Ouch.

I don’t have an axe to grind.  I eat there a lot.  I live downtown and it is very convenient for me to dine there.  I don’t have any complaints about the service or Ed Mitchell.  Recently, I made a comment about my food to our waiter and my bill was adjusted.  That’s good service.  I am just saying that I think corners are being cut in order for the food to come out of the kitchen faster.  This helps flip the tables and serve more customers.
Also, I ordered a burger because I wanted a burger.  If it’s on the menu, it should be prepared with the same attention to detail that is given to the bbq.

I’ve tripled billed at the bar twice now. I’ll never go back there and hopefully my complaint to the AG’s office will be noticed.
