how anonymous! i wonder how much fossil fuels will be spent as corporate executives drive to dt raleigh from all over the triangle for this event. what a stupid name! are these drinks made from locally available consumables?

How is this anonymous? We gave you the name of the event, the location, and who is hosting it.
I would love to see corporate executives drive/walk/run from wherever they live. The green building community needs more involvement from executives and businesses in order to be viable. In general though, we focus more on younger professionals and students who are wanting to become more involved in the growing green building movement.
Though you may think the name is stupid, if you had visited the website listed, you would see that this is a worldwide event centering on the idea of creating a community of sustainability advocates.
Unfortunately, we have yet to find somewhere that has drinks made from “locally available consumables,” whatever you mean by that, but we do try to support the local economy by holding this bi-monthly event at a city-central location, preferrably at a local business.
Please feel free to come to the event, see what it’s really about, and share your thoughts with everyone there if you would like. We always welcome new people and viewpoints.

I think the goal of these events is something a little bigger picture… longer term.

But hey, perhaps realsustainable would be willing to host the next one and we’ll all drink home-brew & carpool there. What do you say?

(Your anonymity comment speaks volumes in irony.)

I wouldn’t worry about the nay-sayers, Beth. I think it sounds like a cool opportunity for business leaders to learn more about green issues and a great opportunity for those interested, the organizations that know a lot more about this and how to make it work, municipalities/local government, etc. to network with each other in a relaxed environment like this.
