A member of the same family who brought us El Rodeo and Jibarra Mexican Restaurant will be opening El Cerro Bar and Grill in Mission Valley on Avent Ferry Rd. This restaurant will utilize the space formerly occupied by RockOla.

There are already several other ethnic food options in Mission Valley: Dalat, serving an extensive range of Vietnamese and Chinese dishes; Abyssinia, an Ethiopian restaurant which really does give a comprehensive dining experience; Nur Grocery and Deli, whose Egyptian-born owner offers a variety of Middle Eastern options; and Jerusalem Bakery & Grocery, also offering Middle Eastern grocery and specializing in baked goods and sweets.

Sweet - what a great alternative to the sometimes (almost always) sketchy choice at Avent Ferry and Gorman.

Should be QUITE interesting come Cinco…

Hope Baja Burrito can withstand any added competition.

I think Baja Burrito sells quite a different product and experience than El Cerro will.  Couple this with the fact that Baja has some pretty hard-core fans, and I don’t think it will be hurt much by this welcome addition to Mission Valley.

I went there for cinco de mayo. The place is great and the food is ok, I didn’t like the sauce all that much it tasted like canned tomatoes, but the ambience is great.

I live near El Cerro and this place is really good.  The service has been fantastic, prices and food are good, and I’ve enjoyed both of my visits there.  Will most definetly be coming back again to enjoy their food!
