Local artist Emily Huffman is showing Paintings this summer at Zely & Ritz. The show opens May 10th with a reception from 4-6, and will hang until August 2nd. Huffman is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans, where she studied painting and sculpture. She has lived and worked in Raleigh for the past 3 years, and is a member of Bonded Llama Artist Studios.
Her works are primarily oil paintings on canvas, panel, and paper. Fluid, dynamic fields and layers give context to symbols and imagery. The abstract fields are inspired by landscapes, light, moving water, breath, and sky. The imagery is drawn from a personal library of symbols, objects, stories, and dreams. As the objects and fields interact, the works create a sense of something fleeting, appearing, or transforming.
