We received sad news from good folks tonight. theeverybodyfields (from Tennessee, but a staple in our part of the music world) are going their separate ways with Sam and Jill pursuing their own solo projects. Luckily, Sam Quinn and the Japan Ten will be playing The Pour House in Raleigh on Friday June 19 w/ The Jackets.
Seeing Sam Quinn and Jill Andrews play together for the first time back in 2003 at a post-Tosco Music Party party the Evening Muse in Charlotte will forever be emblazed in my mind. What a great duo. This combo went through a handful of third and fourth players.
Sam has a love for hardwood floors without pillows or covers and Depeche Mode at 6am on Sunday mornings, post shows at Martin Street Music Hall (remember that place?). While this love won’t go anywhere, I’m sure both of these artists will go far in the music world. You guys will be missed.
Their full message is below:
Dear friends,
We have had such a blast playing for all of you in the past five or more years. We have slept on your couches, floors, patches of grass, and the occasional dog bed. We have drank your beer, eaten your burgers, and laughed and laughed with many of you until the early morning hours. We have played shows for you from Seattle, Washington to Portland, Maine. We have played venues such as The Kennedy Center, The Fillmore East, and the Johnson City Mall (our first show as a band). There have been happy times. There have also been hard times. But, most of all, when we set out to play music years ago, we knew that we couldn’t do it alone. We needed you. Every last one of you. And you have always been there. So, it is with heavy, hopeful and forward-looking hearts that we are now saying so long for now to the everybodyfields so that we can officially pursue our own solo careers.
