College of Textiles students Nina Tie (left) and Megan Wheeler (right) prepare for Couture for a Cure.
NC State students Laura Watson and Lizzy Hardy are taking a fashionable stand against diabetes. The two friends with a common love for fashion design and desire to end a debilitating disease have organized an event to increase awareness and raise money for research.
On March 28th, NC State and the College of Textiles will host Couture for a Cure, a student fashion show fundraiser to fight diabetes. The grand atrium of the Dorothy Roy Parks Alumni Center in Raleigh is the backdrop for the gala event. Fifteen student designers will show their collections with styles ranging from sporty urban chic to couture-caliber gowns. This runway show will be an exciting showcase of the aspiring talent at NC State.
Couture for a Cure’s mission is to promote the discovery of a cure for diabetes through fundraising efforts while bringing awareness to this disease. All proceeds will go to both the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (Raleigh Chapter) and the American Diabetes Association.
A reception will be held prior to the show.
Tickets are currently on sale for the reception and show on Friday, March 28th at 7pm. Tickets may be purchased at the College of Textiles Student Services Office (See Kent Hester) or you may contact Laura Watson (event director) or Lizzy Hardy (associate director) for tickets as well.
Student Admission: $15.00
Public Admission (non-students): $20.00
Tickets purchased at the door will be raised due to limited seating for the fashion show.
