The Downtown Raleigh Alliance and NCMA Contemporaries present a First Friday Scavenger Hunt on Friday, April 3rd. This is the second year of a scavenger hunt like this, after last year’s was a hit. This year the grand prize is a serious $1,000 - a great incentive to hunt down our city’s art! See below for the full release:
It’s a race to discover the abundance of art in downtown Raleigh. Teams of up to four participants compete to decipher a list of clues that will reveal artistic gems in galleries, restaurants, and other downtown venues. The hunt begins in City Market on the corner of Martin and Parham Streets, where participants will receive the list of scavenger hunt clues. Registration and check-in will begin at 5 pm and the hunt will begin at 6 pm. The contest ends at 9 pm at Tir na nOg Irish Pub and Restaurant where winners will be announced and awards will be distributed.
Teams will compete to decipher a list of clues revealing works of art in galleries, restaurants, and venues around downtown. The race begins at 6 p.m. when clues and maps are distributed to all registered teams. Teams must submit their answer sheets at Tir na nOg by 9 p.m. to qualify for prizes. The winners will be announced at Tir na nOg.
Teams will be required to take a photo of the answer to each clue using their own digital camera, cell phone, or Polaroid camera. Participants can utilize bicycles, the Raleigh Rickshaws, Segways, the First Friday Trolley, the R-LINE, or their own foot power to track down the clues.Date: Friday, April 3, 2009

Last year I came in 2nd in this. Maybe it can be done again!
This was awesome last year. Didn’t win, but am going to try again this year.
It was cool to visit all of the galleries and places that are a little off the beaten path.
