Five Questions with Gary Poole of The T’s

If you follow my music blog, then you know that The T’s are one of my favorite bands in this area, mainly because they are straight-up rock. I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: The T’s aren’t “this” kind of rock or “that” kind of rock. They are just ROCK. And they’re really damn good at it.

This Saturday they’ll play the biggest show of their career when they open for Joan Jett (someone who knows a thing or two about rock) for the latest Downtown Live concert at Moore Square. To top it off, their set will be shot on video. T’s drummer and local bartender extraordinare (The Landmark, Slim’s) Gary Poole answered Five Questions for New Raleigh in advance of the show.

1. What are you planning to say to Joan Jett if you get to meet her on Saturday?
“Please don’t steal our Guitar and Bass players”!

2. What’s going on with the video that will be shot of The T’s during the show?
We’ll see what kind of footage we get, then decide. More than likely, we’ll use any useable footage for our press kit, perhaps a music video at some point.

3. Do you have plans to record and release new material any time soon?
As a matter of fact, we just started recording our new record last week.
Hoping for a September/October release.

4. If you could drop one of your songs from your setlist, what would it be?
With all the new material, we’re forced to drop some of our “standards” from every show.  We mix it up pretty good, if I do say so myself.

5. What’s the secret to Gary’s amazing Bloody Marys?
If I tell you, I’ll have to kill you.
