XX Merge on Twitter and Night One Article Roundup

Twitterererers (also known as 140ers) are doing a damn good job of keeping the rest of us that couldn’t/didn’t get tickets to the big ‘ole Merge 20th birthday fest popping off in Carrboro and Chapel Thrill this week/weekend. They are doing such a good job, I thought I was there watching the show last night and thought that I should write a full #xxmerge twitter round up article. Alas, that idea was scooped up quickly too.

For those of you on twitter, just add the search term #xxmerge to your twitter feed and you’ll realize that not only is everyone at Cat’s Cradle listening to awesome Merge bands, but that everyone also has a mobile device in their hand that is tuned to twitter. For those of you not on twitter and are confused as to what it is and why it matters, here are a few other reviews of the first night that are a bit more like true journalism….unlike the combination of links to other reviews and run-on sentences that this article combines. There’s old school/true journalism, there’s the stream of consciousness of twitter and somewhere in between, there’s the new media of us at New Raleigh.

Local media is on the beat when it comes to covering xxmerge. Menconi has an article up about last night’s show, as does Triangle Music.

Night one lineup:

Kelly Rosebuds (emcee for the night)
Pure
Lou Barlow
Oakley Hall
The Clientele
The Magnetic Fields
The Rosebuds
Conor Oberst & The Magic Valley Band

Hey! More XXMerge Links!
